about

I took the tape loops out once more and fed them with a bunch of analog oscillators. For a little extra spice, I recorded some vocal chops from "the clown" pack, wicked lines from the dark knight's nemesis flick.

This pack gives you 86 noisy samples:
- melodies
- harsh noises for FXs or just to cringe at
- and some vocal chops

Recording gear: 4 busted tape recorders with faulty belts, motors, flywheels, dirt, and ruined ICs. I fixed some issues and ended up with 4 flavors of loops:

- Noisy - relatively good sounding loops but noisy
- Extra noisy - nasty harsh frequencies and/or more tape wobble
- Through - the source sounds recorded through the units right before pressing Rec to capture some of that tape recorder monitoring vibe.
- Vocals - vocal chops, either noisy or very noisy, some are mixed with synth tones I played in the background

Important side notes: - - - -

-- The files are raw, and due to the nature of the old recording equipment, mono. In some files there is a tiny amount of bleed onto the stereo field but that is not from the tapes themselves.

-- The sounds have lots of imperfections, the idea is to give a feeling of real tape loops, hiss and wobble, tape swoosh, clicks and pops, just like listening to some broken radio and worse than cylinder recordings but louder, perfect as base for other creative sound effects, drones, and basically anything that needs some raw noisy texture to it.

-- Two sounds are variations, which I included because they each had a nice quality.

-- Royalty free, but the vocal chops are as usual, not legally cleared, this is the fucking fine print for the vocals if you care about that.

--This pack is not as noisy as the previous tape sessions2 album. All sounds are dry, raw, and mono.

-- One tape recorder died in the making of these samples.

It's fascinating how twisted sounds can be reminiscent of bad hallucinations, bizarre memories and dreams.
