about

These are impulse responses (IRs) capturing the sound of an old Japanese tape recorder. This unit had been siting idle in a dusty attic until we picked it up, tweaked it a bit and brought it back to life.

This recorder lacks fancy tape heads or technology such as dolby, so there's no magical analog mojo here, rather, some old school coloration; please note that tape noise or hiss are not captured by these IRs.

- 18 AIF files at 48 kHz/24bit
- 12 WAV files at 44.1 kHz/16bit
- No minimum phase transformation applied
- 2 channels and mono
- Variation between IRs ranges from subtle to extreme.
- Recommended for Ableton's Convolution Reverb & Logic Pro X's Space Designer.

NOTE:
The format of IR files is important and Bandcamp does not offer an option to download files at specific bit rates, i.e., WAV 16bit, nor AIF files. To ensure you receive the samples in the proper format, we have two options:

For Ableton users: use the .alp file to access your IR samples
For Logic users and others: Please send me an email through bandcamp to receive a direct download link.

It's fascinating how twisted sounds can be reminiscent of bad hallucinations, bizarre memories and dreams.
